Amazing Race

I hope that everyone had a great thanksgiving! (one plate, right...only one dessert??) Well, it's back to work this week.
Every team has a gift to buy. I put the list next to the Amazing Race chart. We need these gifts back by next Friday (12/12). Your exercise task is 2000 calories burned and one group exercise class per team. The following teams (ONLY ONE FROM EACH TEAM PLEASE!!) have to show up for a Get Fit session (see personal training web page for times) Team 3, 7, 11, 15, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26.
No one has an additional task around the gym.
Team 12 has a special prize at the desk. Please check there on Tuesday. You're "Amazing"!!!

Christmas family

Hi everyone, especially my "Amazing Race" teams. We are about to do something "Amazing" for two families in Zachary. We have adopted two families with lots of kids for Christmas. I have divided each child up amongst the teams. I've posted them next to the race chart. This is part of Week 5, but I know that a lot of you will be out and about shopping on Friday, so in case you see a good deal you can pick it up for your child. Each TEAM either has toys, clothes or shoes to purchase for your child. The gift needs to be wrapped, labeled with the child's name and back at the fitness center by Friday, December 12. We will deliver the gifts on Sunday, December 14 is anyone wants to participate. We are also hosting a food drive for the families. The families are related, live together and have requested that. So if you want to also contribute to that, you can. The food drive is also open to members who aren't participating in the Amazing Race. The staff at Fitness Design is collecting money for the kids to have uniforms. That is also an option if anyone is interested. On another note, I heard today from a member that on average we consume about 4000 extra calories on thanksgiving day. Doesn't that sound fun? That's a pound of fat plus some. Who wants seconds now??? Don't forget to do something for calorie expenditure on Thursday.

Week Four-Amazing Race

Half way girls!!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but "whining" wasn't part of last weeks requirements. Ha Ha ! Whining in a gym is flattery. I know that it's getting harder, but you are teams. If you can't make something, make sure your partner can. Some people didn't look at the blog until Tuesday, so they missed the bulk of the work. (I also goofed on one of the times, I'm sorry) I had thought about letting people do other classes, but it wasn't fair to those who gave something up and came to the right class. . So to be fair, and since it's a short week. If you didn't go to a Fitness Fusion class last week, then someone from your team has to do it this week. Your options are Monday 9:15 AM, Monday 5:30 PM or Wed 5:15 AM.
This week you will also have to do 100 minutes of cardio and 30 have to be on Thursday. That's 200 per team. One person can do all 200 or share the journey. I changed it to minutes this week because many of you will be out of town, so minutes instead of calories are trackable. You also may not eat as much if you know that you have to walk, run or crawl for 30 minutes.
Team work: The teams below will have ONE person show up for a GET FIT session Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. See our website for times (personal training page) 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20.

These teams will have a question somewhere in the gym that will need to be answered before the end of the week. 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 17, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27.

There were a few teams who didn't attend a GET FIT session last week that were supposed to. In order to make that up, you will have a chore to complete at the end of the contest.

TEAM 6 won a special prize for being the first team to finish all of last weeks tasks. A special gift will be at the desk for you both on Monday.

Week three- Amazing Race

We are approaching week 3. Isn't it "Amazing"? (ha, ha!) The weeks will be getting tougher! !!!
The following teams will have an appointment to make. One of you from teams, 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, and 27 will need to show up during a Get Fit time. Be prepared to work out and sweat. View the personal training page of our website for times. Look for Laura , Carly or Cheryl. If you already do Get Fit, then your partner has to show up.
Everyone else, including these teams will have to complete 300 calories during a cardio session, 3 times during the week and one of you has to go a Fitness Fusion Class. (Mon- 9:15 AM, Mon-6:15 PM or Wed am- 5:15 AM) As a reminder, you get 400 calories per group aerobic class, 200 for yoga or pilates, 200 for weights. ( I changed my mind on the weights because people were skipping them)
Teams 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 18, 19, 22, 23, 28 will have an envelope in the gym. Please answer the question and bring back to the desk.
Great job on the band-aids. The kids from St. Jude will so happy!!!!!

Week 2 Amazing Race

This is week two of the "Amazing Race". This week we are doing something "Amazing" for the children on the Cancer unit at Our Lady of the Lake. (which is a St. Jude affiliate) Each team is to bring a box of fun band-aids for the children. With the economy like it is, luxury items are no longer available. It's plain bandaids and no snacks. Joan is one of our instructors and she works with these children everyday. A bright colored band-aid goes a long way. So....band-aids it is. Place them in the bin at the desk.
Your exercise chore is for each of you to complete 3 days of any type of cardiovascular exercise, burning 250 each day AND one of you has to complete a group exercise class. If you fell short last week, then you can catch up by doing 2 group exercise classes this week.
In short, 1500 calories on the cardiovascular equipment, 400 for a group class, and a box of band-aids. If you are an ODD numbered team, you will have an additional chore. Look for your envelope around the gym. Have fun!!!!! You are all AMAZING!!
